The royal couple donated 150,000 euros in 2021

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde made 788 financial gifts for a total of 149,591 euros last year, according to the Royal Palace.

The King's House Petitions and Social Affairs Department received a total of 57,152 requests for assistance in 2021, of which 7,147 were new and 7,282 were follow-ups to previous appeals. 1,893 requests involved financial assistance.

Applications included energy and health-related bills, housing issues, food costs and water bills.

Each request is examined by the Department of Requests and Social Affairs and results in an opinion, advice or referral to an appropriate aid organization, or contact is made with the official bodies or organizations concerned (Federal Public Service, municipality, OCMW, Inami, Housing Fund, ONE, etc.), for examination or processing of the situation.

In 2020, the royal couple had made 640 donations for a total of some 128,000 euros. The coronavirus crisis has indeed caused a slight decrease due to the difficulty of interacting with the relevant social services.
